Microcosm

"Microcosm" made its debut on stage in 2011 and now receives a new lease on life through its adaptation for the Summer Stage, our theatrical Garden.

Even the smallest among us were once even smaller. Even the most grown-up... weren't grown-up. Even the most experienced were inexperienced. Everyone was once a child. Among us, there are surely those who would forever wish to remain so. To learn about the world anew, to touch, feel, and taste everything for the first time. And then to marvel at how extraordinary the world is...

Hans Christian Andersen wrote "Thumbelina" seeking in a child, whom the two-and-a-half-centimeter-tall girl metaphorically represents, evidence of vulnerability, obedience, innocence; while also highlighting the immense influence of the external world on what happens to the protagonist. "Mikrokosmos" is a free interpretation of this popular fairy tale.

"Thumbelina" serves merely as a pretext to confront similar themes, but on terms dictated by a character curious about the world, strong and determined, striving to be oneself and to feel free. The reason for this free interpretation is the desire to engage in a dialogue with the stereotype of the child hero, reduced to a passive stance, devoid of character and influence over their own fate.
