Pantomime Studio #1

After the summer break, we invite you to the first session of this season’s Pantomime Studio!
This project offers training in both pantomime technique and contemporary approaches to body movement and physical theatre dramaturgy. The workshops will continue in their established format of monthly weekend sessions. Classes are led by actors and actresses from the Wrocław Mime Theatre’s artistic ensemble, as well as invited experts and practitioners of movement theatre and dance.
First session: October 19-20
Theme: WORKING ON A ROLE
Two-day workshop pass: 200 PLN – available at www.bilety.pantomima.wroc.pl
Workshops are for adults (18+)
Weekend Schedule:

9:00-11:00 – Pantomime Warm-Up
led by: Krzysztof Szczepańczyk
The Pantomime Warm-Up is an exploration of body awareness, focusing on areas we often overlook in daily life. Inspired by the experience of working at Wrocław Mime Theatre, this warm-up creatively integrates pantomime techniques such as isolation, illusion, tension, and release—essential for safely preparing the body for stage work.

11:15-14:15 – Working on a Role
led by: Anna Nabiałkowska
This workshop focuses on three key areas: character analysis within the context of the story and setting, identification with the character and translating emotions into movement, with attention to the character’s unique traits. Participants will also develop distinctive character features while refining lightness of form and precision of execution.

15:00-18:00 – Working on a Role
led by: Jan Kochanowski
This movement-acting workshop will explore how to build a character’s story—whether drawn from personal experience, observation, or pure fiction. Each physical action tells a mini-story, woven with emotion. We’ll experiment with techniques to capture the audience’s attention, evoke emotions, and maintain engagement. Participants will enrich their roles with parallel narrative layers, which may emerge as echoes of past events or persistent dreamlike visions. Creating a role is not only a dialogue with oneself but also with others, the world, and its mysteries. The key? Your sensitivity and creativity.
