"Crime and Punishment" on May 24th during the 38th Days of Contemporary Art in Białystok

The play "Crime and Punishment", directed by Jakub Skrzywanek, will be presented as part of the 38th Days of Contemporary Art in Białystok..

This year's theme for the festival is "Have no fear!" highlighting how fear, a primal trait stemming from the survival instinct, has evolved. In the 21st century, fear is no longer just a response to perceived danger. The event will explore building civil courage in a society that has welcomed thousands fleeing war and boundless violence—people who could not escape their fears and anxieties. It will address how to empower those stripped of dignity, the right to exist, decide, and receive help. The term "culture of fear" was first used by Frank Furedi in 1997 and has since frequently described media ethics, content, politics, and social behaviors, becoming a common phrase in discussions about the pervasive fear culture in schools, universities, and workplaces.

The play, a co-production with the Polish Theatre Underground, will be shown on May 24 at 9:30 PM.
